My name is Aniek and I am from the Netherlands. I have witnessed the earthquake in Nepal. During the earthquake I was in safe hands of my Nepalese friend Bijeysh and his friends family. I was very fortunate to be helped by SOS international and get a flight back home three days after the earthquake. However, I have double feelings about being back home, since I also really wanted to stay there and help. I have seen most of the beautiful heritage sites, that have been destroyed. I have stayed in houses which are now fully damaged. And I have met so many caring, warm people whose hearts are now broken. These people and all of the other Nepalese inhabitants do not deserve this horrible tragedy and do not have resources to become the country they once were before.
The best thing I can do right now is to raise money to help out this beautifull country with its warm people that have been affected by this horrible tragedy. When you donate through this website, I will make sure the money will get to my friends non-profit organisation, Saath. This organisation has decided to provide help to the the villages of Halede of the Kavre district. Almost all houses in this area are completely destroyed and people have built temporary camps of whatever material that they could find. Saath has done damage control over the affected areas and has now completed an action plan. The immediate need in this area as of now are TENTS. There are over 500 people that do not have proper shelter. As of now these people are sharing only three tents. In addition to tents they are also looking to get these people the following supplies:
- Facial masks
- Water purifier
- Salt & oil
- Rice & grains
Young dedicated Nepali workers within this organisation like my friends Bijeysh, Kris and Sunika have started to work very hard in this area, but in order to provide tents and supplies they need to collect money. So please donate through this website. If we all make a small donation, we can provide big help! You can follow Saath and the work the organisation is doing on their facebook: https://www.facebook.com/saathnepal?fref=ts. Thank you all very much for your kind donations!
